I think Baruch College uses many new media outlets already to increase communication and transparency between students and faculty. First off, in a way, even Blackboard is utilized as a new media method! It is an easy and quick way to spread information out to multiple people at a time.
Also, many organizations utilize Facebook and Twitter to spread awareness of their events to the student body. I think that Baruch should use twitter more often to interact with students because currently they only post articles on there. Twitter could be used for alerts as well.
Also, classrooms should be utilizing Facebook groups to hold discussions and share documents with each other. This will ultimately bring the class closer together.
Baruch can implement live chat or webcam systems for Bursar, Registrar and Financial Aid help to cut lines and wait time.
Students can use new media to order event tickets online for Baruch events. This can be an easier way to track tickets sold, how much was made, and advertise the event even more.
Baruch should implement a textbook renting/ trading network that is a safe and simple way to find the resources you need at cheaper prices. This can cut great costs from our student expenses.
